DASG wind network

Stabilisation of the interconnected grid via power plant services in wind energy installations with double-fed induction generators

A reliable electricity supply is of crucial importance for an economy, and in view of the continuing rise in its overall generation capacity, wind energy must also play its part in this, offering all the necessary qualities.

In this project, Bremen University is working with its partner WIHM-Tech GmbH to develop an innovative control process which reduces electricity fluctuations caused by dynamically occurring influences in the grid directly at the generator itself via an adaptive filter, stabilising the flow of electricity via the use of reserves. This will make it possible to maintain the necessary grid quality in future against the background of the expected high proportion of wind-based electricity generation.

The project was financed with funds from the European Union and the State of Bremen, the Senator for Climate Change Mitigation, Environment, Mobility, Urban Development and Housing Construction, the Applied Environmental Research funding programme.
