Inductive lighting for information control Systems
H. Marahrens Schilderwerk, Siebdruck, Stempel GmbH is planning the development of two entirely new concepts.
Firstly, a new form of energy transmission for illuminated information control systems is to be developed. These might take the form of illuminated advertising, direction signs or decorative lighting elements – particularly for trade fairs, shopfitting and museums hosting temporary exhibitions. The electricity supply is to be contactless, via induction.
Secondly, an information control system using individual acrylic LED-illuminated elements is to be developed. Here, the entire display of individual elements can be flexibly and repeatedly reconfigured. The contactless inductive transfer of energy makes the display completely independent of fixed power points.
The basic construction of giver coils is made and connected once. The individual LED elements with taker coils (symbols, letters, pictograms, etc.) can thus be easily replaced and moved around on the base rail because they don’t need to be connected to a power cable. So when changes are made, there is no need to replace the entire display. Instead, individual letters are replaced and moved around. This saves a not insignificant amount of resources (e.g. of acrylic).
Also, users can make the change themselves on-site, since the inductive transmission means that none of the letters needs to be connected to the electricity supply. This reduces the amount of travel by installation technicians, and particularly cuts the number of flights needed.
Both of these improvements are expected to reduce carbon emissions.
The project is financed with funding from the European Union and the State of Bremen – by the Senator for Climate Change Mitigation, Environment, Mobility, Urban Development and Housing Construction under the Applied Environmental Research funding programme.
