The Boatbuilding Showcase opened in May 2009. Experiencing and watching boatbuilding and shipbuilding at Bremer Bootsbau Vegesack (BBV) forms the heart of this new tourist attraction. It gives the visitors an insight into the history of boatbuilding, and they can experience live boatbuilding in the current boatbuilding projects.
The BBV intends to build a boatbuilding educational trail on the site of the Boatbuilding Showcase, illustrating the development and various processes used in the building of a boat. This new module will supplement the existing services on the site and help to teach people about boatbuilding. The educational trail will particularly aim to teach school classes, enabling them to gain an insight into boatbuilding irrespective of what boatbuilding projects are currently in progress at the boatyard.
