Gröpelingen’s neighbourhood initiative consists of two partners: Gröpelinger Marketing e.V. and Kultur vor Ort e.V. Both of these associations receive ERDF funding and work closely together.
The two initiatives are tasked with closely integrating the local economy with the culture of the neighbourhood.
The Kultur Vor Ort e.V. cultural initiative comes up with ideas for particularly creative events and campaigns. The international, multilingual Feuerspuren (traces of fire) Festival is a highlight each November: it is advertised both within and beyond the region and strengthens the identification of the local residents with their neighbourhood. The development of ideas for a better link-up of the district to the other side of the River Weser (and particularly to Woltmershausen and the city centre) is a major part of the organisation’s work. In this context, mention should be made of the event which takes place every other year called Weserwege – Bremer Fährtag (Weser routes – Bremen’s Ferry Day). The services are rounded off by performances by Kultur Vor Ort at the North Gatehouse and the Roter Hahn studio house and the tours etc. offered by Gröpelingen.
The Gröpelinger Marketing e.V. business association organises events like the Gröpelingen Summer in 2011 and 2013. The Gröpelingen Map project, a map for customers in the neighbourhood, has also been launched by Gröpelinger Marketing e.V. and is to be continued.

The following slideshow provides impressions of the Weserwege Fährtag (swf, 1.6 MB) on 2 May 2010. The visitors encountered a colourful programme at the various jetties between Pier 2/ Waterfront, Lankenauer Höft, Timber and Factory Port, Europe Port and the Weser Riverbank at Rablinghausen.
